Fernandes Fagundes

Fernandes Fagundes died Jan. 7. He was 91.

Fagundes was born in Tracy on Jan. 26, 1929. He worked with his father and two brothers maintaining and operating a dairy farm. He was the first of his family to graduate from Tracy High School. Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the Marines. Proud of his service, after completing his stint in the Marines, he chose to return to his family and do everything he could to help on the farm. Eventually, he found his way to the movie theater in Tracy where he met Delia Costa. They were married on May 2, 1954. He worked 10 years at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

He was preceded by his parents Joseph and Cecilia Fagundes; his siblings; Tony Fagundes, Carl Fagundes and Diolinda Loustale. Fernandes is survived by his loving wife of almost 67 years, Delia; his five children: Lynne, Steve (Debi), Bob (Terri), Tim (Kay), and Marie (Chuck); his 15 grandchildren: Loree (Daniel), Julee (Steve), Lyndee (Jeri), Joseph (Becky), Samantha (Ron), Lee (Nate), Lauren (Andy), Nathan (Andrea), Kelly (Danny), Ryan, Jill, Josh (Catherine), Matt, Allison (Ryan); and 18 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Ave., Tracy, from 4 to 9 p.m. on Jan.  20, with the Rosary at 6 p.m., which will be livestreamed via his tribute page at www.frymemorialchapel.com. Mass will follow at 11 a.m. on Jan. 21, at St. Bernard’s Holy Family Center, 12100 Valpico Road. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, burial will be private for family and there will be no reception. Donations in memory of Fagundes may be sent to St. Bernard’s School.
