Everett B. Guthrie

Everett B. Guthrie, formerly of San Ramon, died Jan. 12. He was 67.

Guthrie was born March 4, 1947, in Blackburn, Missouri to George Guthrie and Frances Green Guthrie. He grew up in Blackburn and was educated at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri. He spent more than 40 years as a nuclear chemist, specializing in environmental radiochemistry. He worked and lived as a chemist in laboratories throughout the country including Richmond, California; Anchorage, Alaska; and Las Vegas, Nevada. He held a position at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, where he retired in 2013 after spending nearly 30 years as a lead chemist. He spent the last 15 years managing the environmental laboratory at LLNL while residing in San Ramon, California. Guthrie contributed to several studies and research programs helping train scientist throughout the world. He returned to Blackburn in 2014. He was a member of the New Hannibal Masonic Lodge No. 20 F. & A. M. in Marshall.

He is survived by his niece, Stephanie Henderson of Vallejo; nephews, Stefen Guthrie of San Ramon and Shawnn Guthrie of Fairfeild; uncle and aunt, Eugene and Thelma Kelly of Blackburn, Missouri; and cousin Wayne Seals of Blackburn, Missouri.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Olivia Guthrie Mason; nephews, Steve Mason and Thearon Henderson II; aunt, Gladys Webb; and uncles, J.R. Guthrie and Herbert Guthrie.

Funeral services were recently held at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall, Missouri. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice and a guestbook is available online.
