Doris June Stewart

Doris June Stewart of Pleasanton died April 6 at Marymount Villa in San Leandro. She was 79.

Stewart was born in Barbour County, West Virginia on July 2, 1935. She grew up in Junior, West Virginia and always spoke so fondly of her life there.

She and her family settled in Pleasanton in 1964. She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Cal State Hayward. Among the places she worked were the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and the Veteran’s Hospital in Livermore.

Her sons remember many wonderful times water skiing and also her love of gardening. She was a long-time member of the Livermore-Amador Garden Club and often volunteered at some of their events.

She is survived by her sons, Dan and Steve Stewart, and grandsons, Colt and Clint Stewart, all of Pleasanton. She is also survived by her two brothers, Bill Hillyard of Ohio and Thomas Hillyard of Washington, DC, as well as nieces and nephews
