Dolores (Dee) L. Weidman

Dolores (Dee) Lorraine Weidman of Livermore died Jan. 10. She was 87.

Weidman was born on Jan. 8, 1928 in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, to Gertrude and Robert Herman. While living in Quakertown, she met her husband to be, Walter L. Weidman Jr. They were married July 20, 1943. Three days later, her husband was shipped to Germany to fight in WWII. After his safe return, they both worked for Western Electric in Allentown, Pennsylvania and raised their five children. They moved to Modesto, California in Aug. 1957 and then to Livermore in the spring of 1959.

Weidman worked at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory for more than 25 years and went back to school to earn multiple degrees. While raising her family she enjoyed dancing and performed in many rodeo parades in downtown Livermore. She was very proud to be dancing into her early 80s.. She was also very active in Springtown water classes.

Wiedman is survived by her husband of 71 years, Walt; her five children, Annette Weaver (Ron) of Livermore; Lynn Staysa (Don) of Livermore; Les Weidman (Linda) of Hickman; Bruce Weidman (Deanne) of Walnut Creek; and Jani Richards (Bryan) of Pittsburg. She also is survived by nine grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Dolores Weidman to American Diabetes, American Cancer Society or AIDS.

A memorial service was recently held at Callaghan Mortuary in Livermore.
