Christian “Kit” Sanders

Christian “Kit” Sanders, a resident of Oakley, and former property manager for the Lab, died June 19 of cancer. He was 70.

A former peace officer and detective, he remained active in his community upon retirement — board of directors of the Lions Club; Bethel Island Municipal Advisory Council; Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors; past Bethel Island Fire Commissioner; Torrance Retired Police Officers Association.; and former Youth Safety Run Adviser.

Before moving to the Delta, he was a resident of Pleasanton. He enjoyed the water, travelling and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Christy of Orange Village, Ohio; son Steve of Discovery Bay; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy.

A celebration of life is scheduled for today ( Friday, June 27), from 6-9 p.m., at the San Joaquin Yacht Club, 550 Riverview Road, Bethel Island. Donations may be made to the City of Hope, 1055 Wilshire Blvd., 12th Floor, Los Angeles, CA 90017.
