Carol Tomlin

Carol Tomlin of Citrus Heights died Feb. 9. She was 74.

Tomlin was born in Evansville, Wisconsin on Oct. 21, 1940. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a teaching credential and was an elementary teacher until she started her family. After her divorce in the late 70s she became the secretary for Faith Lutheran Church in Castro Valley. She successfully raised her sons helping each to graduate from college.

Throughout motherhood, Tomlin devoted her life to her three sons and was active in the PTA, scouting, little league and any other activities in which they participated. Growing up in Wisconsin, she was an ardent Packer and Badger fan and, after moving to California, became a Raider's and A's fan as well. She volunteered locally for The Gathering Inn and also was a member of the Sons of Norway.

She enjoyed her retirement in Rocklin, California. Her favorite past times were playing bridge with her friends in Springfield, seeing her grandchildren, crocheting and painting in traditional Norwegian Rosemal style.

Tomlin is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Ralph and Richard Tomlin. She is survived by her sons, Philip, Eric and Kyle Vogt; daughter-in-law Maria and grandchildren, Luke, Esperanza, Marisol and Abraham. Her extended family includes sister-in-law Sue Tomlin, niece Tia (Antonio) Tomlin and nephew Craig (Roena) Tomlin and their daughter Kayla.
