Bill Sanders

Bill (Sandy) Sanders died Sept. 26, after a long battle with lung and brain cancer He was 70.

He was born in Shawnee, Okla. on Oct. 27, 1937, but lived the majority of his life in the San Francisco Bay Area.

After three years in the U.S. Navy, he joined the Laboratory, then called the Lawrence Radiation Laboratory, where he worked for 32 years before retiring at the age of 52.

Sanders was an active member of the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America, the Livermore SIRs (Sons in Retirement), the Springtown Golf Club and the Bay Area Garden Railway Society.

He will be remembered for his grumpy personality and his endless supply of stories and jokes. He was always willing to help, be it a fellow car club member working on or restoring a vehicle, a neighbor working on their house or yard, or a golf buddy needing a partner.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Judy Sanders, and his daughter, Christina Sanders He also is survived by a niece, three nephews and many great-nieces and nephews.

At Sanders' request, there will be no formal services. Donations can be made, in his memory, to the American Cancer Society or 1-800-ACS-2345.
