August Marion (Marty) Martin III

August Marion (Marty) Martin III was born in Bakersfield, California, where he spent much of his youth. Later, he then moved to Susanville and Orland and attended California State University, Chico. For several years, Martin worked as a mechanical engineer at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory before moving on to other ventures.

Martin loved classic cars: working on them, watching them race and going to car shows. His first car, and last car, were 55' Chevys. He also loved airplanes, air shows, collecting guns, traveling and the outdoors. He was happiest when either traveling, driving around or at the family ranch.

He will be remembered for his love of life and infectious laughter. He loved to laugh, joke and never met a stranger. He is survived by his wife Mia, step-daughter Evan Bonavita; mother Sharon Stockton; grandmother Shirley Bayne; sister Janee (Don) Hornsby; nephew Mitchell, niece Rianna; and his brother Vincent Martin. He was preceded in death by his father August Martin Jr.

A service was recently held at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Bakersfield.
