Shirley Calvert
Shirley Calvert died April 29, 2026. She was 87.
Calvert was born on April 18, 1939, in Hayward, California. She graduated from Hayward High School in 1956. She began working at a young age, spending summers peeling apricots alongside her siblings and cousins. She held several positions before beginning her long and meaningful career at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). After working for several years, she took time away to raise her daughters, later returning to LLNL, where she ultimately retired in 1999 after 27 years of dedicated service.
She is survived by her husband, James Calvert; her daughters, Sheryl Faux (Doug) and Susan Duenas (Anselmo); her sister, Linda Roy; her brother, Dennis Lopez; her grandchildren, Eric Avila, Jessica Wing (Jonathan), Joshua Miller (Steven), David Faux, and Dennis Faux; and her great-grandchildren, Eddie Avila and Owen Adler-Miller. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph T. and Ella Lopez; her brother, Joseph J. Lopez; and her stepdaughter, April Brown.
Services will be held on Wednesday, May 27, at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 S. Central Avenue, Tracy. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. Final resting will take place following the service at Tracy Public Cemetery, 501 East Schulte Road, Tracy, California. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to VFW Aux Post 1537, 1688 Piper Place, Tracy.
