Robert "Bob" Arol Anderson

Robert "Bob" Arol Anderson died April 16, 2026. He was 93.

Anderson was born on Oct. 13, 1932, in Genoa, Illinois. He joined the military during the Korean War. In 1959, he graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo with a bachelor of science in electronic engineering. In 1960, he became a member of the Institute of Radio Engineers. In 1964, he graduated from the United States Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey with a master of science in engineering electronics. His first job after graduating was at the University of California Radiation Laboratory, now known as Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). He spent his entire career at the Laboratory, working on numerous classified national security projects. He was called back several times after his retirement to work on additional projects.

He is survived by his sister Marjorie, two sons, Mark and Paul, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by Antionette, his mother, Rugee, his father, Merle, his brother and Laurie, his daughter.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Crosswinds Church (1660 Freisman Rd, Livermore Calif.) on Saturday, June 20 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family would appreciate continuing his donations in his honor to Saint Jude's Children's Hospital.
