Eleanor Jean Gannaway

Eleanor Jean Gannaway died June 11, 2026. She was 97.

She was born in Baldwin Park, California, to Carrie Matilda Brink and Elwood Black. She happily lived the last 54 years in Pleasanton, and had a long successful career at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. After her retirement, she immediately dedicated herself to volunteering for multiple causes. She drove Cancer Society patients to life-saving treatments. She also delivered Meals on Wheels and eventually worked thousands of hours as a Valley Care Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary member.

She was preceded in death by her brother Harry Black (his wife Edith and their son Steven), brother Horace, sister Anna Hand, and daughter Sharon Myers. She is survived by her daughter Marilyn Stuckey, nephew Jim Parker, nieces Denise Sciandra and Diana Koerber and their beloved families.

Donations in her honor to the American Cancer Society or the Valley Humane Society of Pleasanton would be welcome.
