Dino R. Ciarlo

Dino R. Ciarlo died Dec. 29, 2025. He was 87.

Born in Niles, California, to Severino and Emilia (Armanini) Ciarlo, he was raised in Fremont and attended Alviso Elementary School and Washington High School, Class of 1956. He grew up working on his family’s 40-acre farm. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Santa Clara University in 1960 and later completed a master’s degree in electronic engineering at California State University, Berkeley. He spent most of his career at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory from 1965 to 2001.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter Dina, her husband Jon Fritzinger, and sons Lewis and Miles; son Michael; and sister Rina Ciarlo.

A celebration of life will be held Feb. 28 at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Livermore, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Hospice or a charity of choice.
