Albert Ronald Thiessen

Albert Ronald Thiessen died Dec. 27. He was 90.

Thiessen passed away after a long battle with dementia. He was born to Albert and Dorothy Thiessen on February 21, 1932, in San Francisco, California. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1950 and later studied physics at University of California, Berkeley and California State University, Hayward. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He worked as a physicist for 35 years at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

Thiessen is survived by his wife of 69 years, Patricia, and their children: Tom Thiessen of Chandler; Rosanne and her husband, Richard Pasierb of Fort Myers; Larry Thiessen of Magalia; Annette and her husband Ronald Fleener of Pleasanton; and Dennis Thiessen and his wife Sandra of Manteca. He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren and his brother John Thiessen, of Camino. He is preceded in death by his sister Barbara Liss, of San Ramon.


A memorial service will be held at St. Michaels Catholic Church, on Monday, Feb. 6, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Hope Hospice or the
